🌱 Youth Guarantee Placement Opportunity – Young Bristol / Bristol City Council

Water sports, Wildlife, Harbour Festival experience:  Eco Spaces in Bristol Harbour

WHEN: 1st – 19th July
(3 days a week + optional weekend at the Harbour Festival – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

This is a hands-on work placement with Young Bristol where you’ll help create floating spaces for wildlife in the harbour.  See Floating ecosystems provide a green sanctuary in Bristol Harbour – West of England Combined Authority

What you’ll get out of it:

• Learn real construction and environmental skills
• Work as part of a team
• Build your confidence and communication skills
• Meet employers and learn about potential vacancies
• Gain experience to help with future jobs or training

What you’ll be doing:

• Building EcoSpaces – help create floating habitats for wildlife
• Water activities – canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding
• Environmental workshops – learn about nature, climate change and sustainability
• “Plastic fishing” – help clean the harbour
• First aid training – useful life and work skill
• Meeting employers – find out about real job opportunities
• Speaking activities – build confidence sharing ideas
• Harbour Festival – help show the public what you’ve built

Why it matters: You’ll be helping improve Bristol Harbour for both people and wildlife. These floating EcoSpaces will support fish, plants and animals, improve water quality, and create greener spaces in the city.
