STEM Workshop Success at St Bernadettes
Earlier in the week we had the University of Bristol deliver six simultaneous STEM workshops for Year 10 students at St Bernadette’s Catholic Secondary School.
We had a whole host of activities going on! In one room students learnt about the heart and had the opportunity to learn and practice CPR. Across in another classroom the session focused on the brain taking part in a range of activities to understand it’s functions and upstairs students injected fruits to understand the process and importance or vaccines in veterinary practice.
The sessions covered a range of topic areas alongside some presenters giving an insight into their career journey and experience of University.
With so many different activities happening it was great to see students engaging in the practical activities and asking questions in the different subject areas.
One student fed back that is was “useful learning about future engineering and how to become an engineer” and another said it was “very enjoyable” and helped them know more about “things they can do in the future”.
It was an exciting and energetic hour and we would like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers from University of Bristol for their time and delivery this week!
