Triumph for South Bristol Talent Pathways Project at FSB Awards
Shortly before we broke up for Christmas break, Bristol City Council were delighted to accept the award for ‘All-Round Small Business Friendly’ in the South West region, awarded by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). The award was presented by Lee Nathan (FSB South West chair) and Sam Holliday (regional development manager) and was graciously accepted by the Mayor, Marvin Rees.
The award recognised the outstanding achievements made by the South Bristol Talent Pathway Project (SBTaPP), who have succeeded in supporting nearly 70 small to medium-sized enterprises. The project was set up to tackle higher levels of unemployment and deprivation in the south of the city by offering accessible and tailored support services to local businesses, helping to ensure equal opportunities for success and growth. The SBTaPP supports South Bristol SMEs through targeted action plans to grow and improve by covering gaps in staff training, recruiting and retaining staff, and enabling them to take on local apprentices.
Bristol WORKS are the delivery partner within this project and collaborate with SBTaPP to help to connect local SMEs with talented young people from local schools and colleges, generating a skilled workforce for the future. Businesses from various sectors have benefitted from this program, ranging from trades, hospitality and hairdressers to charitable organisations. WORKS are also proud to be supporting the first apprentice through the programme following a successful work experience placement coordinated between Davis Roofing and WORKS.
What a fantastic way to end the year and a great motivation to continue building on this success in 2023!
