CFH Welcomes Future Ready Students Behind the Scenes

On 1 July, students from Norton Hill School’s Future Ready Programme were welcomed by the team at CFH in Radstock for a truly special visit. The trip marked the first time a school group had visited the factory, making it a memorable occasion for everyone involved.

The students were greeted by Commercial Director John Marsh and Production Director Steve Cray, who gave an insightful presentation about their own career journeys, the growth and success of CFH, and the importance of sustainability within the industry. Following the presentation, students donned high-visibility clothing in preparation for an in-depth tour of the production facilities.

Managing Director Adam Harwood joined John and Steve in leading the visit, splitting the students into smaller groups to provide a personalised tour of the pfloor. The team were fantastic at explaining both the history of the business and the complexities of the printing industry. Students gained a valuable understanding of the wide range of career opportunities available and the different pathways into the sector for local people.

The tour concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, giving students the opportunity to learn more about the business and the careers of those working within it.

To provide students with a unique insight into the Docmail system, CFH also offered them the opportunity to create their own Docmail. Back at school, students designed a mailing piece focused on their future career aspirations, which will be printed and posted back to them using the Docmail system. This hands-on experience allowed students to see first-hand how the printing and mailing process works from start to finish.

It was fantastic to see a local industry championing our Future Ready Programme and helping students understand the important role that businesses like CFH play within the community.
