Careers Coaching to support recovery
The ADDER Project (Addiction, Diversion, Disruption, Enforcement and Recovery) provides Careers Coaching for people in recovery.
Careers Coach Mike met his client through the project. Mike said “from the start she had shown an interest in getting support. She was working in a charity shop while claiming Universal Credit but really wanted to teach sewing. However, without qualifications, she would struggle to progress.”
Mike arranged for her to receive a free laptop to access some basic courses and build her skills.
In meetings with Mike, she discussed long term goals. Explaining to Mike her aspirations to teach sewing and upcycling to local people.
Through Future Bright she was offered a place on a Level 3 Education qualification. This course would run for sixteen weeks, and the part time basis meant the course fitted around her existing commitments. Within weeks she was well on the way to following her dream.
