Raising Aspirations 2020!
From emergency care to film and TV production to police dog handling, the two day Raising Aspirations event, held at the UWE Exhibition Centre, saw Year 9 students from all over the region learn about a vast array of careers.
The annual Cabot Learning Federation event, this year supported by Bristol WORKS, aims to inform and inspire students to take an active interest in their career choices. With four distinct areas, students learnt about Post-16 and University options, jobs and careers, employability and skills, and, more specifically, medical and health care.
The event was full of Bristol WORKS pledge partners all volunteering their time to run activities and presentations to enthusiastic students. Students had the opportunity to build wildlife gardens, learn about the principles of painting and decorating, build wooden homes, set up and film shoots and construct aircraft wings.
Whilst over in medical and health care area, they were taken through emergency situations from first response to rehabilitation and returning home. University Hospital Bristol and the North Bristol Trust combined forces to demonstrate, in full, the diverse range of roles in health care.
In the employability area, students event got to try out some yoga to ensure they consider their wellbeing in the workplace!
With schools visiting from all over Bristol and North Somerset, including Bristol WORKS partner schools, students were able to access a wealth of information to help them make informed choices about their futures.
A huge thanks to all involved.
