Knowle DGE Students Explore Career Paths in Interactive Careers Carousel
Students at Knowle DGE recently had the chance to take part in an exciting and interactive Careers Carousel, aimed at exploring various career options and apprenticeship opportunities available after Year 11. The event provided hands-on sessions with multiple employers, offering students valuable insights into a variety of industries, including engineering, construction, hospitality, and sports.
Yunex ran a fun session where students got to wire a traffic light, giving them a hands-on look at the engineering behind important infrastructure. It was a great opportunity to see how engineering affects everyday life and helped students discover more about this important field.
Students also enjoyed a fun, creative session with The Cake Engineer, decorating cookies while learning about the skills involved in running a baking business. This session helped students understand the creative side of the food industry and the entrepreneurial skills needed to succeed.
For those interested in construction, Galliford Try provided an interactive bridge-building challenge, giving students a taste of what it’s like to work in construction. This session demonstrated the teamwork and problem-solving required in this sector, inspiring students to consider careers in building and design.
Wessex Water introduced students to the world of plumbing and water management, providing hands-on activities that highlighted the importance of this essential service. Students discovered how plumbing plays a crucial role in everyday life, encouraging them to think about careers in the water industry.
With Iken, students explored the importance of user design in technology, learning key concepts like user experience. They discovered that successful design is about creating intuitive, user-friendly products. The session also helped develop problem-solving, collaboration, and creative thinking skills.
