Tech Takes Centre Stage: HP Inspires Year 9 Students to Showcase Their Brilliance
Year 9 students, from Merchants Academy in Bristol, were treated to an exciting glimpse into the future as 2 HP Business Partners visited the school to deliver an inspiring workshop on how technology can help young people express who they are and what they can do.
Alice Hopgood introduced HP, held a quiz testing listening skills and understanding, a logo game with technology company brands, and gave an insight into LinkedIn. This was followed by a hands-on activity to introduce the idea of personal branding which students enjoyed as they answered questions about themselves whilst moving around the room. HP’s team highlighted how tech can empower learners to design, build, and present their own profile with confidence.
Students then heard about different pathways to working in technology, and specifically HP, via a range of routes from apprenticeships and internships through to degree opportunities. The HP team emphasised that technology isn’t just about consuming information; it’s a powerful platform for creativity, communication, and personal expression.
Mike Low from the Sales team shared his own career journey with a Q and A at the end. Students found out about a typical day, what he enjoys the most, both the challenges and rewards. Students were able to understand more about a large international company which also has employees based in Bristol
Teachers praised the workshop for sparking curiosity and giving students a clearer sense of how digital skills connect to future careers.
