Bristol WORKS & Sixteen Co-operative LTD Run Virtual CPD
Bristol WORKS and Sixteen Co-operative LTD ran a virtual CPD session this morning, offering information and opportunities to share learning for teaching professionals and colleagues across Bristol
Bristol WORKS delivery partner, Sixteen Co-operative Ltd, is a specialist job coaching agency. Sixteen was set up to provide evidence-based supported employment services to people with a learning disability, autism or other disadvantage, interested in finding paid employment.
The specialist agency runs a number of community, education and supported internship programmes in and around Bristol. They work in partnership with local authorities, providers and families to increase the number employment opportunities available and to increase awareness of good quality employment support.
Today’s bespoke session was delivered to 24 education professionals focusing on sharing and providing information whilst lockdown restrictions are keeping most of us at home.
The session focused on:
1) The different routes into employment.
2) The importance of evidence led job coaching.
3) The option of self employment.
4) How employment based programmes work.
5) Social enterprise
6) Where to look for more information about Post 16 options and support
The virtual session also looked at the wider menu of opportunities available within Bristol to support people with SEND.
At the end of the session, there was an opportunity to ask questions to Sixteen, Bristol WORKS and also to the transitions senior practitioner from the SEND casework team who was also involved.
