Bridge Learning Campus Year 7 Careers Day: Inspiring Futures
This week, Year 7 students at Bridge Learning Campus took a big step toward thinking about their futures during an exciting careers day. The day was designed to open their eyes to the range of opportunities and sectors available after school and to show how the skills they’re developing now can help them on their journeys.

Throughout the day, students rotated between engaging sessions led by a variety of local and national employers, including Arup, Babcock, Money Ready, and Clayton Hotel, as well as a host of volunteers from various organisations in a ‘Guess my job’ carousel. Each workshop offered a hands-on insight into different industries, helping students to explore careers and apply their classroom learning to the world of work.
The Arup team inspired students to think of sustainability in the sector, getting them to use their creative and critical thinking skills to redesign disused buildings and create sustainable structures. Babcock gave pupils a glimpse into the world of engineering, encouraging teamwork and problem solving in a buoyancy challenge. Meanwhile, Money Ready ran a lively and practical session on financial wellbeing helping students understand how to make smart choices about money from an early age. Clayton Hotel brought hospitality to life, introducing the wide range of careers within hotels and hospitality whilst challenging students with a biscuit design activity.

Another highlight of the day was the ‘Guess My Job’ speed networking session, where students met professionals from a range of careers and had to work out what they did for a living by asking clever questions. We had volunteers from Foot Anstey, Forrest Brown, MCS, Bray and Slaughter, Bristol City Council, Hippo Digital, and Yunex Traffic. It was a fun and fast-paced way for students to practise communication skills and learn about jobs they might never have heard of before.
We hope that the Year 7s left buzzing with ideas, inspiration and understanding that it’s never too early to start thinking about their ambitions and the skills they’ll need for the future!
Thank you to all the volunteers that made the day possible and to the year 7 students at Bridge Learning Campus for their energy and enthusiasm on the day.
