Supporting South Bristol businesses to grow and develop

Davis Roofing are one of the South West’s leading roofing contractors, Manager Daniel needed to grow his business with a workforce who were committed and could work hard. He was also keen to support local young people into the industry.

Daniel worked with Mairead and the South Bristol Talent Pathway Project to set up an action plan.

She told him about Workforce for the Future Project, a free support service for businesses that helps employers to develop their employees skills and to develop and retain talented people.

Mairead also put him in touch with useful local and national contacts including Leonard Cheshire who helped with understanding the social model of disability, and Bristol Dementia Action Alliance who were able to offer support awareness training.

Through Bristol Works, Daniel hired a local, school leaver after a 4 day work placement.   Daniel was able to access further advice about career pathways for employees, selecting the right course for trainees and which training provider to use.

Daniel is looking forward to helping this young person pursue a career into the construction industry.
