‘Inspiration is all around me!’
This week WORKS were very excited to be delivering two workshops focusing on Careers in Art. Earlier in the week we delivered to North Star 240° and yesterday we visited Oasis Academy Brightstowe to get creative with some of the students!
The session gave students the opportunity to form opinions about different pieces of artwork, think about and discuss different career pathways within the art sector, followed by an opportunity to get creative. The session also included a video of Bristol based Artist Andrew Burns Colwill who kindly took the time to meet with the WORKS Team to make an educational video. Within this he spoke about his own exciting career journey as well as his helpful top tips for young people wanting to get started in art!
It was inspiring for students to hear from an artist who grew up in Bristol and went to school locally.
The artwork created during this session will be viewed by the whole WORKS Team alongside Andrew Burns Colwill in order to nominate pieces for the WORKS website. It is an amazing opportunity for students to have their work displayed for a mass audience.
Both sessions were a huge success with some students saying it had opened their eyes to the wide range of options within the sector.
A huge thank you to Andrew Burns Colwill for taking the time help make these sessions a success. Keep your eyes on the WORKS website over the coming weeks to see the selected designs!
