A round up of another fantastic year at Bristol WORKS!
As this academic year comes to its end, we wanted to look back at some of the highlights of a jam-packed year with our fantastic employers and dedicated schools.
Students from schools across Bristol and the surrounding areas have taken part in a range of experiences of work this year. From planting wildflower boxes with Broadmeadow, to designing moon landers with Airbus, it has been a year of exciting and innovative opportunities for students to engage in the world of work.
The year has seen multiple Career Days, Mock Interviews, two fantastic property inclusion events, assemblies, women in engineering, milkshake masterclasses and a multitude of in school sessions and trips. Students have been everywhere from Tyntesfield to Bristol Airport to the offices of many inspiring employers.
We have worked with all kinds of industries, see Donna from Clayton Hotels below, working with students from Blaise to introduce them to the many and varied career paths in hospitality.
We have been lucky to partner with fantastic employers from the world of tech, see below an office trip to BJSS, where students from St Bernadette’s learnt about app design, but also about the how their different skill sets could take them into different roles in the tech industry.
We’ve also worked with employers from the public service sector, engineers, architects, lawyers, to name but a few. Another real highlight was when Frazer from Myworld put on multiple creative technology sessions at the Watershed. Students from Northstar 240, Kingsweston and City Academy got the chance to explore the studio and work with different employers from different roles across the creative tech industry. Here they are with Gavin Strange from Aardman Studios, learning about a career path into stop motion animation and directing. Students completed the day feeling inspired and excited about the possibility of a career in the creative technology industry.
These are just a couple of highlights among the many incredible sessions (see previous Good News Stories) that have taken place this year. Meaningful opportunities for students to grow their understanding of different industries and of the many career options open to them in the future.
We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all our partner employers and all the school leaders who have ensured these events have been a success. We’d also like to thank all the students, who have engaged with such energy and enthusiasm to employers both in school and off site. We look forward to an even bigger and more exciting year come September.
