Fantastic Finance and Showcase success – A busy week for Bristol WORKS
It has been a busy week for Bristol WORKS as we also were part of two different sessions focusing in on Finance! First up on Monday we had FD Works where Kim, Liz and Amelia focused on challenging the stereotypes of working within the sector for Blaise High School! Students heard about the day in the life of their apprentice as well as having the opportunity to take part in a book-keeping task!
This was followed by Connor Jones from Mercer Marsh Benefits who ran a financial literacy workshop for students at City Academy on Tuesday. Through this we learnt about our spending habits, payslips, deductions and what Tax and National Insurance pay for within society. The workshop was hugely beneficial for the students and they especially enjoyed the quiz at the end which tested their knowledge!
The young people from Snowdon Village Schools were in for a treat this week as Future’s Academy hosted an post-16 Showcase event. Students from all Snowdon Village sites along with their parents and carers were invited to explore the range of options Bristol has on offer for them after leaving school.
To add an extra experience of work to the event, The Royal Navy attended to run a catering workshop with students and serve snacks and refreshments to their guests. The sausage rolls and chocolate chip cookies were certainly a hit! Well done to these students for trying something new and following Naval health and safety guidance to produce delicious food to a tight deadline.
Bristol WORKS would like to thank the P-16 providers who attended to support this event.
