An Insight into ISG
This week we were very excited to have students from North Star 240° visit the ongoing construction project site under ISG (Global Construction company) at Hawkfield.
Volunteers from ISG, including Jamie Davis and Georgia Ward kicked off the session with an introductory discussion and a presentation for the students.
The project manager, Ant, then took the students on a tour of the construction site, describing what a typical day in the construction industry is like and giving them an overview of the project they are working on.
This tour caught the interest of the students. One of the students commented that the tour experience “amazed him”.
The students were eager to learn as much as they could, and they peppered the project manager with insightful questions that mirrored their enthusiasm.
We also stopped by an electrician hard at work who explained the job he was currently undertaking!
After a fantastic site visit, students were brought back to the room to be educated on the various career paths available in the construction industry. A brief talk on the abilities needed to enter the construction industry was also given. Following this, students then completed a team building activity.
The students were engaged in learning about what a typical day in the construction industry entails. It was a true pleasure to accompany them on this journey, and WORKS would like to express it’s gratitude to the ISG team for taking the time to offer such an exciting session to the children.
