Exploring NHS Careers: Year 10 Students Meet the Allied Health Professionals
Year 10 Students from Orchard School and Merchants Academy recently had the opportunity to engage in an inspiring session with Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), where they explored a wide range of career opportunities from across Social Care, Community Services and the NHS. The event was designed to give students a deeper understanding of the diverse roles that AHPs play in the healthcare system and how they can contribute to improving patient care.
Throughout the session, students met with professionals from the various health and care sectors, such as podiatrists, occupational therapists, dietitians, radiographers, and more, learning about the different career paths available. The AHP professionals shared their personal experiences, offering insights into the qualifications and skills required to enter these rewarding fields. They also provided valuable advice on the educational pathways available, including apprenticeships, university courses, and vocational training.
The event proved to be an eye-opening experience for the students, who were able to ask questions, interact with healthcare professionals, and gain a clearer idea of what their future careers in healthcare might look like. This session not only sparked interest in the various professions, but also helped students to see the importance of hard work and dedication in pursuing a fulfilling career health and care.
