Bristol TV Freelancers Provide Inspiring Industry Insight
Last week, students from two Bristol schools attended a virtual Q&A with five local professionals working within the TV and Film industry. The speakers, who between them have worked on exciting shows like The Great British Bake Off, Got to Dance and the Brit Awards, shared details of their varied roles and even more varied routes into the industry.
The students were clearly passionate about learning more, asking lots of questions about the best ways to get into a career in TV production. Whilst there is no set route in, the TV professionals highlighted that work experience, research and enthusiasm were key and that many start out as a runner or intern and work their way up.
When asked for their top tips for someone looking at a career within TV or production, the advice was to “always be yourself”, “be hardworking, friendly and ask questions” and “don’t feel like you have to be a certain person to work in TV”.
