Developing School Green Space with Avon Wildlife Trust
Students at Knowle DGE, New Fosseway and Kingsweston schools are participating in a six-week project with the Avon Wildlife Trust to develop their school green space and improve wildlife habitats.
Across the project, students will learn about the importance of nature and ways we can help wildlife, from building a bee hotel to creating hedgehog holes in fences! The students will also hear about the wide variety of careers in gardening and horticulture that could be available to them when they leave school.
This week, students at Knowle DGE were exploring their school grounds, finding and identifying all sorts of wildlife and nature from wood lice, wasps and snails to seeds and feathers. Everyone had a great time and will be hoping for the lovely sunny weather to return for the upcoming sessions!
A big thank you to Catherine and George from Avon Wildlife Trust for sharing their time and expertise to support our Bristol WORKS schools.
Make sure to check back in a few weeks’ time when we will be delighted to share the ways in which these schools and students have developed and improved their green spaces.
